Key West Aquarium - Florida's Oldest Aquarium

The Key West Aquarium, located on Whitehead St. was built by the Works Project Administration between 1932- 34. Originally the aquarium was open to air and later on its size was doubled with the addition of the Atlantic Shores exhibit and the large outdoor holding pens. It is regarded as one of the oldest aquariums of Florida offering all sorts of deep sea attractions and an opportunity for visitors to explore the wonderful world of the unknown marine life.
The highlight of the Aquarium is its daily shark and turtle feeding program which takes place on a regular basis at 11AM, 1PM, 3PM, 4:30PM. The Touch Tank which houses rays, sharks and turtles offer guests hands on experience with the sea life of the surrounding waters. Within the aquarium is a Turtle Hospital dedicated to help protect the endangered sea turtle. There are a wide variety of fish species at the aquarium including grouper, moray eels, barracuda, tropical fish, tarpon, parrotfish and much, much more.
The aquarium featured amongst the top Key West attractions offers its visitors with an opportunity to indulge in their favorite sport of snorkeling or undertaking a diving trip. The Key West Aquarium is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm - 365 days a year and adults are charged $ 12, children under 13 are charged $ 5 while infants under 4 have free access to the aquarium.
